Why write a romantic comedy holiday collection, you wonder?
Well, first of all, if you asked me what my favorite holiday is, the answer would be easy.
And complicated.
Because with absolute certainty, I most adore Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Why the duality?
Both vibrate with the magic of romance. In equal measure.
Exquisite and addictive. Exciting and heartwarming. Brimming with wonder and hope.
And if we’re lucky, that incredible magic enchants us, entwines itself around us, and never lets us go.
The most wonderful time of the year definitely spun its powerful magic on us: Stone and I were married the day after Christmas.
We sent out elegant iridescent red-white-and-green poinsettia wedding invitations.
Had a small ceremony (Stone refused to shake the hand of someone he didn’t know).
Annnd… the hip-hop beats of Run-DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” streamed on a tiny black boombox.
At the wedding.
Not kidding.
So with off-kilter humor deeply entrenched in our own holiday romance, it’s easy to see why we believe romantic comedy deserves VIP seating at the holiday romance event.
And of course, there’s no shortage of tasty ingredients…
All the delectable seasonal trappings: nostalgic songs, festive food and drink, sparkling decorations, ribbon-tied wrappings, and bright fluffy snow.
But dig a little deeper, and we also find all kinds of scrumptious emotion. Tender hope. Grumbly defiance. Aching love.
Whip into the recipe a pinch of humor and a dash of attitude?
And we all get to have… Half-baked Holidays.
