Please enjoy a sexy kitchen encounter between Cade and Hannah…

Her eyes narrowed for a split second as she pulled out a large pan with two hands. “This is not even close to a date. What would you suggest instead, a notepad and pen?”

I leaned a hip on the far counter, watching her light the stove and drop a large tablespoon of solidified coconut oil into the pan. “Would you be wearing those sexy librarian glasses?”

She raised her brows. “You think my glasses are sexy?”

Leaning up on her tiptoes, she reached for and pulled down a glass container full of popcorn kernels from a cabinet beside the stove. A few hundred kernels pinged into the pan before she replaced the lid. With both hands, she lifted the pan a few inches above the gas burner and gave it a good shake before resting it back down.

The response to her question demanded her full attention, so I waited. She turned, leaning back on her counter edge. We faced each other, her island between us. The few feet may as well have been inches with the way the air was charged between us.

I gave her a heated stare.

Her breath caught, her chest expanding.

Which caused my cock to twitch. I began to feel like one of Pavlov’s dogs.

“You are sexy.” I held her gaze captive. “Therefore, anything you wear becomes sexy.”

She smirked. The power she knew she had over me emboldened her. “Even my apron?”

I inhaled, remembering that ruffled apron, her thin T-shirt and short shorts hiding underneath. “Sexy as fuck.”

A kernel popped.

She swallowed. “‘As fuck?’”

I nodded. “Doesn’t get any sexier than that.”

A slight tilt of her head, and Hannah began to play. “What if I wore a potato sack?”

I snorted. “Do you own a potato sack?”

She crossed her arms, shaking her head.

My eyes were drawn down to that tempting cleavage. I took my sweet time dropping my gaze down her body, imagining her in a potato sack.

Pops sounded out. One after another. Faster and faster, like my pulse going out of control. Hannah began shallow breathing under the intensity of my stare.

“I would love to see you in a potato sack. Just like I’d love to see you in lingerie. To me, they’re both the same.”

She laughed, then turned quickly, grabbing the heavy pan with both hands and giving it another hard shake. When she turned around again, she resumed her stance in the same place, back to the counter.

This was another dance—a different location, a more enticing rhythm, but a dance all the same. Two partners circled each other, deciding how long to draw out the beginning steps before pulling each other even closer.

“How can they both be the same? You’d find me equally sexy in either?”

A deep inhale was the only thing I could do to clear my mind, keep me sane. That, and the white-knuckled grip I had on the edge of her counter, holding me immobile, keeping me from launching at her and showing her just how sexy I found her.

I tilted my face down, holding her gaze beneath my lowered brows. “Hannah, you have no idea. Whatever you think you do to me, magnify it. I don’t see you in anything. I just see you. And if you’re ever brave enough to wear a potato sack for me, wear nothing else underneath.”

The popping slowed. Her attention was needed at the stove at that critical point.

She didn’t move. “Why?”

“Because I’ll shred it and have you naked in three seconds flat. Might as well save the lingerie.”

Release-eve Appetizer

“Watching you move in that dress is the only thing keeping me sane.” Though I spoke the words, I forced my gaze outward to the horizon line of party guests. I was a mere mortal man, and Hannah had turned into a goddess.

“Oh, you mean this old thing?” she teased, stalking forward into my line of sight, showing me the backless silver silk as it fell in a “V” just below her waist. There was nothing on underneath, which I noticed every time she turned her back to me.

I growled low as she turned slowly. “Be careful, Hannah. A man can only take so much.”

A wicked smile appeared on her angelic face. The temptress had returned.

She dropped her hands to her hips. Beautiful didn’t even begin to cover it. Dark waves of hair framed her face, swept down on one side below her shoulder. Those hazel eyes had become dark, glistening in the shadows.

A smirk lit up her face. “I’ve no idea what you’re talking about.”

“You know exactly what I’m talking about.” I stepped forward and brushed my hands over hers, where they were still propped on her hips, then slid mine over her ass. Proprietary, I know. But I laid claim just the same. She didn’t stop me.

Her eyes simply flared wide. She bit her lower lip, then slowly released it.

I stared long and hard at the luscious lip that I wanted to bite, suck on, taste in long, slow licks until she surrendered to more. My gaze rose upward to meet her eyes. Dilated. For me.

“All I see is a potato sack, about to be shredded.”

A slow smile curved her lips. “You mean, you think I’m sexy.”

“Devastatingly so.”

Resolutions… For a Lifetime

I’ve never made a New Year’s resolution.

Am I an exception to the masses? I’m not sure. Perhaps you could share your thoughts.

The idea had always seemed impermanent to me. Anyone I’d ever known who’d made a resolution made an attempt to curb excess of one sinful nature or another, only to abandon said restriction before the next legal holiday.

I’ve never exempted myself from those who have behaviors to modify. I’m certainly sinful, just as any other person, being human after all, but I’ve never been moved to change with a “resolution.”

Until I had.

Reflecting back on the last few months of my life, I realize the major changes I had ever wanted to make in my life, the person I had always strived to be, had happened. Events beyond my control flicked on a dusty switch that apparently had always been destined to shine a brilliant light. I’d blinked in amazement as the darkened world around me suddenly glowed brightly.

Like all things new, however, there will forever be vast room for improvement. Infinite lessons await us as we seek to master… becoming our better self.

Coming off a landmark year for me as far as changes go, I’m embracing the next stage with the strong foundation of the last. Truly, the first affirmation was admitting to myself that I haven’t changed.

… I’ve transformed.

As I dangle from the safety of my familiar cocoon, the moment has come to fly. Time to stretch my wings.

I will endeavor to be who I was meant to be… the butterfly.

With beauty and grace, I accept who I am. I will remind myself daily of what I was meant to do with my fragile life in this harsh and unforgiving world…

To live each precious moment to its fullest
To multi-task less and focus more
To think of others and act so they feel it
To love with all the fire and passion in my heart
To cherish those whose lives I touch
To stand strong amid the darkness and brighten it daily
To believe the smallest kindness matters
To give charitably in thought, word and deed at every opportunity
To honor the vessel in which my heart and soul reside
To write for the love of writing
To spread awareness of those in need of love
To save the world one book at a time…

The last resolution came about from publishing the romantic poems in Utterly Loved, and yet, from that one project, all the other tiny miracles within me strengthened and took hold. One book pivotally changed me. The belief in a singular collection of heartfelt poems delivered with a message powerful enough to change our world… transformed me.

Of course, there where many catalysts along the way, for which I am forever grateful… My readiness to accept change toward growth. The humanitarian efforts of the author who wrote the inspiring foreword for Utterly Loved, Sylvain Reynard. The support of loved ones and new friends made along the way.

I look forward to the path unfolding before me. My journey is not for the year ahead. The adventure I’m taking will be for a lifetime.

Please join me in embracing a lifetime of resolutions. Our world will be a better place if everyone commits to spreading love in a place very much in need of the kindness of our hearts.

The time has come for a reveal of the cover of Utterly Loved.

The intention of Utterly Loved is to touch the hearts of readers and share our love with the world through charities. The image on the cover had to be universal. The elegant art has an elemental beauty. I hope you all love the cover as much as I do.

{whispers} If you’re curious who did the cover art… I did. From the water-color painting of a crumpled piece of parchment paper, to the single tiny cut-out paper heart, to the photography, to the uploading of photos … all of which I am a novice at or have never done before … the cover art is 100% Kat Bastion.

Sharing Abundance

On the eve of a holiday in America where we gather to give thanks, we count our blessings, we send up prayers that our bounty continue, and we embrace those around us with love.

… At least in theory, anyway.

Not everyone can gather.
Not everyone is blessed.
Some have lost the will to pray.
Many have never known love.

Let’s change the above picture, something that deeply saddens me. None of us have everything. But some in the world have nothing. Remember them. Do what you can to show them you care.

The original tradition of Thanksgiving celebrated a coming together of two nations on one land in peace for prosperity. They enjoyed their abundance and counted their blessings. Let’s do the same on this day of Thanksgiving and every day.

Let’s stand together, united around the world, to show those who feel lost that they are not alone.
